The European Research Council has today announced the winners of its Advanced Grants competition. Their work is set to provide new insights into many subjects, such as the links between obesity and pancreatic cancer, threats from wildlife viruses, brain-inspired neural network computer chips, and new ways for architects to design the buildings of the future. The common fate of practically all stars hosting planets is that they will eventually evolve into white dwarfs. This project will make use of astrometric, spectroscopic and photometric observations to carry out an ambitious and comprehensive research program of white dwarfs hosting remnants of planetary systems, to find out more about the material accreting in these stars and to potentially identify new planets in close orbits around them. These evolved planetary systems provide insight into the formation, structure, evolution, and ultimate fate of planets that are entirely complementary to, and in large parts unattainable by, the analyses of exo-planets orbiting main-sequence stars.

As one of the UK's leading research universities, we are committed to research that is internationally recognised, with impact and purpose. Our research strategy presents an ambitious vision for the future, one in which our research will transform the way that we understand the world, creating lives that are healthier, safer, more resilient, just, and fulfilled. Our research is inspired by fundamental questions led by our own intellectual curiosity. We also strive to inspire the curiosity of others, working with, and being challenging of our partners from the public, private and charity sectors.
The Research Proposal
Warwick is a research-intensive university and we claim that our graduates leave with an understanding of, and capability in, research. What better way to develop this knowledge and understanding than by expecting them to develop a research proposal, certainly as a stage towards their final year project. A possible progression would be an annotated bibliography in year1, a research proposal in year2 and a full research project in the final year. A research proposal requires learners to select a topic [intrinsic motivation as it is their choice] and through analysis and synthesis of knowledge, decide an original research question and then propose a way to answer that problem. As with essay guidance there are plenty of websites offering advice about how to write research proposals, and one would expect:.
PhD thesis, University of Warwick. Request Changes to record. The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate the significance of ordinary prayer for the study of ordinary theology, as conceived by Astley , and to make an original contribution to research in this field. For this purpose, in part one, the thesis begins by establishing the relationship between ordinary theology and ordinary prayer, followed by a review and evaluation of empirical studies relevant to ordinary prayer. These studies are organised according to five themes: who prays, when people pray, the subjective effects of prayer, the objective effects of prayer, and the content of prayer.
