The sleeve valve is a type of valve mechanism for piston engines , distinct from the usual poppet valve. They subsequently fell from use due to advances in poppet-valve technology, including sodium cooling, and the Knight system double sleeve engine's tendency to burn a lot of lubricating oil or to seize due to lack of it. The Scottish Argyll company used its own, much simpler and more efficient, single sleeve system Burt-McCollum in its cars, a system which, after extensive development, saw substantial use in British aircraft engines of the s, such as the Napier Sabre , Bristol Hercules , Centaurus , and the promising but never mass-produced Rolls-Royce Crecy , only to be supplanted by the jet engines. A sleeve valve takes the form of one or more machined sleeves. The cylinder wall has inlet and exhaust ports, identical to a two-stroke motor.

There is just one common feature in majority of the actual internal combustion engines, operating on different cycles which is combustion occurring in the cylinder after each compression, resulting in gas expansion that acts directly on the piston work and limited to degrees of crankshaft angle. According to its mechanical design, the six-stroke engine with external and internal combustion and double flow is similar to the actual internal reciprocating combustion engine. However, The four-stroke block, piston and crankshaft remain unaltered. The Six Stroke designed in this project is thermodynamically more efficient because the change in volume of the power stroke is greater than the intake stroke and the compression stroke. And when allied with the so-responsive pickup and a wide spread of usable power with a bike, it makes the bike ridiculously easy to ride, hardly using the gearbox.
